BACKUP & RESTORE

Keep a copy you can restore.

Your core creator-business records stay on your computer. Encrypted backups let you keep a separate copy for recovery or moving computers.

Create a backup regularly

Use the encrypted backup functionality provided in CollabQuote. Follow the backup instructions in the application.

Save a fresh backup after important changes and before updating CollabQuote, moving to another computer, or reinstalling Windows.

Keep it somewhere separate

A backup on the same computer can be lost with that computer. Keep a copy on a separate drive or with a storage service you choose. Local-first does not mean automatic cloud sync or cloud recovery.

Protect your restore credentials

Keep any backup password or recovery information somewhere secure that you can access if the original computer is lost. Do not assume a forgotten encryption password can be recovered.

Vault protection applies to selected sensitive payment information. Encrypted backups do not imply that every application record is encrypted while in use.

Restore with care

Use a compatible installed version and follow its restore instructions. Back up existing records before restoring. Confirm that the expected deals, invoices, payments and rights dates are present after the restore.

If the computer is lost and no usable backup exists, the locally stored records may not be recoverable.
